Mission Work

St. Mary’s parishioners proudly work together to support our sister parish, St. Mary’s in Tohatchi, New Mexico. This mission is on the Navajo Reservation near Albuquerque, New Mexico. This mission work has been taking place for many years.

At Christmas a special collection of needed articles for the Mission is put into motion. Needed articles range from socks, gloves, and underwear, (of all sizes) to towels (kitchen and bath), blankets, sheets, assorted toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc.) and laundry and dishwashing detergent. Sister Mildred and Sister Marlene, along with Father John Mittelstadt (all Franciscans), who live at St. Mary’s Mission, guide us and provide us with information to best help our sister parish.

Several Mission trips have been organized. A group of St. Mary’s Youth and several adult groups have traveled to New Mexico to help with various projects, such as, repairing and painting existing buildings and building or renovating new buildings acquired by the Mission.
